About TED

“We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world.”

A TEDx event is a local gathering where live TED-like talks and videos previously recorded at TED conferences are shared with the community. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. The content and design of each TEDx event is unique and developed independently, but all of them have features in common.

One of the cool things about TEDx is that it is common for someone with a really good idea, who is not well known, to get a lot more views of their videos than even a very famous person.
The quality of the idea makes a big difference to how many people view it.

TED is a nonprofit organisation “devoted to spreading ideas”  through a global community of “curious souls”. “We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world.”

TED events have become world-renowned as the place to share inspiring ideas, heart-warming stories, and exciting innovations.

TED is about Technology, Entertainment and Design. A TED “talk”, which is just as likely to be a performance as an actual talk, is usually less than 18 minutes long. This means that TED talks tend to be dynamic and get to the point.

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading”. It supports independent organisers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community to spark conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences.

TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently, under a free license granted by TED. The videos are then uploaded onto the TEDx YouTube channel and after vetting by TEDx are made available online.
